So, when it comes to the indie comic community, I don't like to get on public platforms and bash people, But today I witnessed someone do the most heinous thing. I ask for forgiveness ahead of time for my language, but it really pissed me off.
I witnessed an indie comic book creator try to completely discredit and ruin the reputation of an indie comic artist. This self-entitled prick felt it necessary to muddy a talented artist's name. Why you ask? Because the artist did not promote his project. This creator hired said artist to do a cover, which the artist did beautifully, fulfilling his contract and therefore completing any obligation towards the creator.
Was that enough? No, for whatever reason he thought because the individual worked on the cover, he was obligated to promote his work. How entitled must you be to think that the artist, who does what you commissioned them for, owes you any more than that?
In retaliation, This dick posted a scathing post "Warning" people not to work with this artist because of his imagined slight. He has since removed the post because the populace quickly turned against him as he continuously tried to defend his self-entitled "opinion".
Look, If you commission an artist to do work for you, and he does the work to your satisfaction, he/she is not obligated to promote your project. If they want to promote the work they did for you then cool, but unless specifically included in the contract they are not obligated to put it on their webpage, social media, or any other outlet.
Trying to ruin someone's reputation because they did not fulfill some delusional, unspecified expectation is absolutely asinine. It makes you the lowest of the low. I encourage anyone backing the project BOOBS #2 on Kickstarter to pull out like it's prom night and any artist thinking of working with him to reconsider. He is unprofessional and will drag your name through the dirt at the first sign of any imagined slight he can come up with.
