Hold your horses

"Good things come to those who wait", I'm sure everyone has heard this before. The problem is waiting sucks, we all want it now, now, now. I know I get that way often; patience is not a virtue I was imbued with. I have learned this though; every time I rush things it never turns out quite the way I hoped it would. Every time I am patient things tend to turn out much better than expected.

It's natural to feel impatient when you are on a roll but it's when you are on a roll you start trying to get ahead of yourself, and you start stumbling over your own feet. It's when everything is going well, and you feel impatient that you need to slow down and take it easy. Don't go ruining your winning streak with rushed decisions.

There is a parable about an old stallion and a young stallion standing on a hill, looking down on a field of lovely mares. The young stallion says to the older experienced horse "I'm gonna run down there and bang one of them sexy mares." The old stallion in his wisdom looks at the younger impatient horse and says 'Or, you could just walk down there and bang em all."

The bottom line is when you take your time and be patient you yield better results, so slow your roll, hold your horses and all good things will come to those who wait. I promise.

It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.” —Confucius.
